Maharishi Augmented Reality System (MARS)

Sunrise Computers engaged in developing and implementing innovative solution for capacity building and customer support, proudly presents their patented solution called Maharishi Augmented Reality Solution (MARS), where real world is connected with the digital world with the help of sensors.

As Confucius Says

MARS integrates three different technologies namely, Application programming with back-end Database, Embedded technology and Animation technology. In digital world we visualize the object using two sensory inputs while MARS offers a solution wherein all 5 sensory inputs bring optimum solution in developing skill set. This makes learning more realistic and understanding obtained will be more profound. There are several possible applications for MARS, the foremost among them is to train unskilled workers in new skills sets within the factory, in technical/industrial schools, at dealer’s location or in the overseas plants of a multi-national companies.

Operation of MARS can be broadly divided into two sections “Learning” and “Evaluation”.

1. Group Learning in Digital Media

In this session participants will be guided by another Sunrise’s patented solution called AV-Book or Audio/Video Book. Participant can go through the animated contents and randomly access the text and corresponding video. The audio/video are completely synchronized with the text and the user can navigate to desired portions of the video from the text also. On completion of this session participant will get a basic understanding about the components and it’s usage in the process/assembly.

2. Adaptive Learning in Real World

In this session participant will lift the physical object/component in the real world. On lifting the object/component sensor will trigger animated video about the component and its application in the process/assembly. On completion of this session participant will be able to identify the component, have a physical feel and understanding of its usage in the process/assembly.

3. Self Practice

In this session participant will start working on the components in a systematic sequential way for the desired process/assembly. In case of any out of sequence step taken by the participant system will automatically alarm and guide the participant with the aid of animated video for the correct sequencing of the component/object. Every out of sequence step will be logged which will help in evaluating performance and identification of the areas for reinforcement. On completion of this session, participant should be capable of performing desired process/assembly using predefined systematic approach on his own.

4. Evaluation

On completion of all learning sessions participant will undergo the evaluation section in order to qualify for deployment on shop floor. In this section, participant will be asked to perform the steps as per predefined sequence for the given process/assembly. In case of any out of sequence or wrong step taken by the participant system will log the error. Error log will indicate how many times the participant has missed the correct sequence. Also MARS will do the time and motion study of each and every step performed by the participant. For ex. If the standard time for assembling a motor is 2 hours and if the participant does that in 3 hours he/she may not be qualified and reasons for such a delay will be analyzed as to where he/she is taking more time and why in order to improve the performance. On successful completion of this section participant can be deployed on the shop floor to carry out actual process/assembly.

MARS is designed keeping in mind low computer literacy of the participants mainly blue collar workers. Thus at participant level computer interaction is almost zero. MARS is self guided system and considerably reduces time for the trainer’s intervention.
